Main House Exterior

This post is titled “Main House Exterior” but this post represents much of the 3.90 acres. (Some photos are older and don’t show the fence that was installed in 2025).

Over their ownership, the sellers have painted all the buildings (except the barn) and replaced all the big-ticket items. There will always be something to do to maintain a house but consider this one as MOVE-IN ready.

The grounds are lovely at any time of year! Each month new flowers bloom for constant color and cutting opportunities.

The grass needs mowing most of the year, but you can let it grow out a little to give the bees a chance to visit the English Daisies and Dandelions. Much of the green in the spring is actually clover instead of grass. It still needs to be mowed, but it will go dormant in the summer heat. The front lawn is self-watered by the high-water table, and the rest of the grass loves to dry out in the summer. It always comes back with the October rains!

The oaks will drop an enormous amount of leaves in November, to be sure. We’ve experimented with raking, mower mulching, and leaving the leaves whole as nature intended. Honestly, there wasn’t much difference each spring, and we would recommend the middle mulching option. It is good for the insects, and the lawn seems happy with a little ground cover in winter.
